Dan’s story
Strong isn’t the same as getting results
Dan Mitchell has coached 1000s of people. By his late twenties he could bench 130kg, squat 220kg and deadlift 260kg at 84kg bodyweight, and still didn’t have the physique he wanted, and didn’t know why. The answer turned out to be consistency, not effort: program hopping, “muscle confusion”, the nonsense. DMF was built on the opposite of that: a structured, progressive programme, coached, with nutrition that’s a reasonable ask rather than a miserable one.
The nutrition coaching is award-nominated and it’s the part members most often say changed their lives, because it isn’t strict.
The coaching team
Dan Mitchell
Founder & head coach. Nutrition coach. Owns the board.
Ben Smith
Coach. Probably the one who rings you first.
Summer
Coach. Stretch, Sweat and the 6am crowd.
James
Coach. Trap bars and Gun & Bun Club.
“The awesomeness comes from Dan, Ben, Summer and James as well as the other members who are quickly becoming friends as well. They really know their stuff and are incredibly knowledgeable about each and every member coming to the gym.”
The studio
Private. Not a warehouse.
Unit 3, 1 School Lane, in the heart of Chandler’s Ford. Racks, trap bars, kettlebells, sleds, the board, the other board, and the kettle.

Community
We don’t just train
Hikes. The Wolf Run team. Bootcamp and brunch. Biggest Loser rounds. Summer Games. The Romsey relay. The Christmas party. It’s the reason a small gym in Chandler’s Ford has 150-odd members who know each other’s names.
